We stayed at Sunflower Oasis Jan 28, 2017-Jan 4, 2018 and had a WONDERFUL vacation. We travelled with another family and rented all four units of Sunflower Oasis for the week. Each unit has a king sized very comfortable bed (Endy mattresses!), fridge/stove/microwave, coffee pot (the host provided ground coffee), kitchen table, couch, and cupboards. The Units are very spacious. There is an air conditioner in each unit. Our two families have older children and therefore we felt extremely safe and comfortable with the kids having their own rooms. There is also an employee on the property (Bertal) who made us feel very safe and welcome. We ate breakfast daily around 1030-11 and the hosts accommodated what time we wanted to eat. This kept us satisfied until supper! The tiki Take out wasn't open yet when we arrive (we were their very first guests) but I'm sure the food there will be great, and really convenient. This vacation was exactly what we needed! It was very relaxing and had the perfect balance of pool/beach/quiet relaxing time, mixed with adventure and lots of things to do. Having golf carts gave us complete freedom to explore everywhere. We didn't do any of the snorkling on the island due to most of our party having strep throat and sinus infections, but I'm told we really missed out. The Island is VERY safe. Roger and Annette helped us get settled and organized. I would recommend renting a golf cart ($40 US/day and Roger had them deliver it to the Oasis). With the Golf Cart we were able to explore the entire island - which is not that big! We went to the Cruise Ship Centre twice (it's only open when ships are in)- very commercial, but kids wanted to use the surf simulator :). We explored hidden beaches, landmarks, abandoned homes....everything! It was an adventure for the kids. It's very safe and easy to explore the entire island. When you fly into Grand Turk, Jack's taxi will bring you to the Sunflower Oasis ($8 US each passenger). Ask him to stop at the liquor store on the way in as it closes at 6pm (we also bough Bailey's at duty free in Canada for our morning coffee!)...the Tiki Take out is also licensed, so if you can't stop on day 1 it's not a problem. Lots of reviews you will read about the island say to ask the taxi driver to stop at the grocery store on your way in, but for Sunflower Oasis there are two grocery stores within walking distance (you can see store from property) so I would just go to the unit, unpack and walk to store. There are many restaurants within walking distance- the Bohio is a very nice restaurant run by some Canadians :) There are lots of local places to check out! Check out the bakeries, chicken take out, and hidden hang outs. The island is busy when the ships are in, which is great, but it's also really neat to explore when the ships are gone and the island is more calm. If you are travelling with younger kids, there would be room in the unit for a playpen or cot. We certainly enjoyed having the entire place to ourselves, but if you only rent one unit, rest assured there is privacy- I went to bed early one night and didn't hear our friends outside playing cards late at night.. There are stairs to enter each corner of the pool so you have your own space. The island is still recovering from the hurricane but only the museum and old jail were closed to tours when we were there. We had a very lovely and relaxing vacation- my only regret is that we didn't stay for 10 days instead of 7! Thanks Roger and Annette for a great stay!
